I am starting this month’s Overview by including the first three paragraphs from the April Overview, in order to illustrate what a different month this is.
[Extract from April 2021 Overview]
If it feels like 2021 is racing by particularly fast and you can’t believe that we are moving into the fourth month already, you are right. For the second month in a row, we begin the month with no planets in retrograde motion with all, apart from Pluto, all increasing their pace. The Sun, Venus, Mercury and Mars will all change signs this month, Mercury twice and this will bring them into contact with more planets in your chart. This is going to create a fast paced month but also a month where there will be change and variety and that always makes time appear to race by.
When there are no planets in retrograde motion this can create the speed wobbles, with all the planets except for Pluto spinning the wheels as they race through the solar system. The planet that is really racing ahead is Jupiter, who despite the fact that he only returned for what should be a 12 month visit to Aquarius in December, is now in his last full month here before leaving on 14th May.
These periods where there are no planets putting on the brakes can be a little too fast paced and especially as this period where there are no planets in retrograde motion is especially long this year. However, while Pluto won’t turn retrograde in Capricorn until 28th April, the fact that he is slowing down will give us at least a slight semblance of control. Pluto is a slow outer planet so this won’t slow down the pace of life but he will help us find quieter moments if we seek them.
If you felt like March flew by and that April was a month that if you had blinked you would have missed it, you are not alone. By contrast, May is going to take the heat off things, with three planets in retrograde motion by the end of the month. This is going to put the brakes on this runaway year but not in a way that is going to bog things down.
Pluto only turned retrograde on 28th April, so this is something we are still adjusting to. The next planet to turn retrograde will be Saturn on 23rd May, followed by Mercury a week later, with the planet of communication beginning the second Mercury retrograde phase of 2021 on 30th May.
However, it is not just a chance to take the heat off this smoking hot year and dropping the speed that makes this a good month. There is a lot of new and exciting developments and a lack of any real or sustained challenges. We even have a total lunar eclipse on 26th May.
While the progression of the Sun, Mercury and Venus from Taurus and into Gemini is something that happens at this time every year, with Mercury the first on 4th May, followed by Venus on 9th May and then the Sun on 21st May, in each case, they are benefiting from the fact that Mars has already moved through both.
Just 11 days separate Mars’ departure from Gemini on 23rd April and Mercury’s return, creating continuity. Meanwhile, Mars is spending his first full month in Cancer in two years and as he will leave on 12th June, his only full month.
What is exciting about this is that Mars will be here when Jupiter returns to fellow Water sign Pisces on 14th May. This is not just the biggest game changer of the month but of the year, with major implications that could change the dynamics of the year itself.
As has been the case since they returned within days of each other in December, Saturn and Jupiter will begin the month together in Aquarius. However, with Jupiter racing ahead and Saturn pulling back ahead of a retrograde turn on 23rd May, the latter has his foot on the brake and the former his foot on the gas.
When Jupiter leaves Aquarius, Saturn will be on his own and preparing for a retrograde turn this will not only put the brakes on this area of your chart but move it into review mode. However, the implications of Jupiter’s return to Pisces are even bigger.
Jupiter was last in Pisces from January 2010 to January 2011 and as he returns every 12 years, this is ahead of schedule and especially as he has spent less than five months in Aquarius. This is more a case of Jupiter racing ahead so fast that he has overshot the runway, with a retrograde phase that should have happened in Aquarius next month instead happening after he leaves, pulling him back.
This means that instead of spending 12 continuous months in Pisces, the planet of luck and expansion will return on 14th May but will then retrograde back out on 29th July, only to return again on 29th December. Even when Jupiter leaves in May 2022 he will retrograde back in again from 28th October to 21st December 2022. In all, Jupiter will move into and out of Pisces three times between now and the end of next year.
This is a big deal, for while Jupiter returns every 12 years and Neptune, the planet of dreams and fantasies has been in Pisces since 2012, this is the first time that they have both been here at the same time since 1859.
Why this is a big deal, apart from putting the planets of luck and dreams together is that Jupiter is the ancient and Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces, not only bringing them together but in a place that they are both call home. Jupiter will nip into and out of Pisces between now and the end of 2022 and over that time this will have a direct impact on any planets in your chart that are in Pisces, Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Gemini or Virgo.
Meanwhile, a total lunar eclipse in Sagittarius on 26th May will energise the final days of the month but it is also part of a pair, with a second eclipse, this time a solar eclipse falling in Gemini two weeks later.
This is just a brief overview of the conditions this month, with the following links providing more information in what this means for you. The Monthly Horoscopes are now available and I will continue to go into this in the Daily and Weekly Horoscopes but you can also get more detailed information through the Monthly Horoscope Reports.
This Overview is simply my chance to tell you what the planets are doing each month and not how this will impact you, which I will do through the Horoscopes. However, the Monthly Horoscope Reports will provide a lot more information and detail into exactly where, when and how this will impact you.
All the very best for the coming month.
