October 2021

October is always a month of change, with the Sun having moved into Libra, the sign of the scales on the September equinox.

However, this is also a month of change for other reasons, a time when with just a few exceptions the gods have their finger on the pause button, ready to release it and with it, the rush to the end of the year.

The month begins with every traditional planet in the solar system in retrograde motion. The Sun, Mars and Venus are the only planets in direct motion and the latter is racing so far ahead that she will eventually be forced to pull back, with a retrograde turn just before Christmas.

Until then, Venus is racing ahead and after starting the month in Scorpio, will be in Sagittarius by 8th October, something that last year didn’t happen until December. The Sun will return to Scorpio on 23rd September and Mars on 31st October but by then, Venus will be long gone and racing towards a date with destiny. It is early next month that Venus will return to Capricorn for what is normally a 24 day visit but instead she won’t leave until March.

This makes Pluto’s direct turn in Capricorn on 7th October even more important, for just a day after a New Moon in Libra, this is when the tide will start to turn and planets across the solar system will start waking up, as they come out of hibernation.

This will be followed just four days later by Saturn, who will turn direct in Aquarius on 11th October and a week later by Jupiter, who will turn direct there on 18th October. Mercury, who turned retrograde in Libra at the end of last month will turn direct on 19th October. With the space of just 12 days, starting with Pluto’s direct turn on 7th October and ending with Mercury’s direct turn on 19th October, four planets that began the month in retrograde motion will turn direct. One by one, this will unshackle another chain holding us back, to the point where the only planets still in retrograde motion will be Uranus in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces, both slow outer planets.

Meanwhile, as Venus races ahead of the others the Sun, Mercury and Mars will become a tighter pack, forming a rare triple alignment in Libra on 9th/10th October. It is two weeks later that the Moon, on the other side of the sky by then will form a Full Moon that on 21st October will clash with all three.

This is a transition month and while the planets are coming out of hibernation in order to turn direct they need to come to a standstill. This makes this more a pregnant pause, with the pace of this year set to pick up considerably in the final two months of the year.

This is just a brief overview of the conditions this month, with the following links providing more information in what this means for you. The Monthly Horoscopes are now available and I will continue to go into this in the Daily and Weekly Horoscopes.

This Overview is simply my chance to tell you what the planets are doing each month and not how this will impact you personally, which I will do through the Horoscopes. However, the Monthly Horoscope Reports will provide a lot more information and detail into exactly where, when and how this will impact you.

All the very best for the coming month.
